No real change in the overall weather pattern for this week. Summertime high pressure systems can be persistent, and the high from Mexico that has brought us the heat is here to stay for a while. Persistent isn’t immobile, and the way the high pressure moves will create some differences in the week ahead.
The start of the week will be excessive heat warning level of heat. With the high centered in Texas it’s going to be a scorcher, with highs in the low 100s, and lows around 80. Towards the end of the work week the high will drift a bit to the west, and our temperatures will cool to the upper 90s. There is a slight chance of rain with the high off to the west since weak shortwaves will rotate through. Emphasis on slight for rain chances.
For anyone wanting to make dashboard cookies, fear not! The high will return by the weekend. This means back to the low 100s. With the high back the rain chances are gone, and a sunny and hot weekend is in store. Stay safe and hydrated.
If you do want to make dashboard cookies, the temperature needs to be at least 103, and the vehicle front window facing the sun. Place some peel and stick cookie dough on a disposable pan, and come back an hour to an hour and 15 minutes later. The center may be slightly undercooked. Don’t ask me how I know. They were delicious.
